How to import a Discogs CSV

Export your Discogs collection and upload a .csv up to 2 MB through Add → Import CSV.

CSV import moves your Discogs collection into your personal DJ Crate library. It reads the music fields: artist, title, label, catalog number, format, and year. Discogs pricing columns are ignored and are not copied into your library.

Below: how to export the file from Discogs, how to upload it to DJ Crate, and how to review the report if some rows need checking.

Export your Discogs collection

Sign in to discogs.com and open your Collection. The collection settings are on the right. Press Export My Collection, then on the export page choose Collection and Request Data Export. Wait for the finished file: Discogs may prepare it asynchronously and email you a download link.

  1. Sign in to discogs.com and open Collection.
  2. On the right, open settings and press Export My Collection.
  3. On the export page choose Collection and press Request Data Export.
  4. Wait for the finished file and download it.

Upload the CSV to DJ Crate

In DJ Crate open Add and switch to the “Import CSV” tab. Choose a .csv file up to 2 MB, then press “Upload”. The import may take a while: wait for the status to change and for the “Import result” block to appear.

  1. Press “Add” in the collection navigation.
  2. Open the “Import CSV” tab.
  3. Press “Choose file” and pick a .csv up to 2 MB.
  4. Press “Upload”.
  5. Wait for the status to change and “Import result” to appear.

How to read the import result

The report shows what happened to each row. “Created” are releases that appeared in your collection. “Duplicates” are rows that were already in your library. “Review” are rows that need a decision. “Errors” are rows that could not be processed.

A draft is a card with incomplete data, created for a row the system could not match confidently. A draft is not lost and can be filled in later.

What to do with a Review row

Press “Open rows to review” and look at the rows marked “Needs review”. For each row confirm the match or create a draft. Do not expect a questionable row to appear in your collection right away: first it has to be resolved in the list.

Re-uploading and “Duplicates” rows do not by themselves guarantee there are no extra physical copies: if in doubt, check the card before confirming.

  1. Press “Open rows to review”.
  2. Find the rows marked “Needs review”.
  3. Confirm the exact match or create a draft.
  4. If needed, retry the row or skip it.

File rules

If Discogs delivered an archive, unzip it. Do not convert the CSV to XLSX: only .csv is accepted. Export your Collection, not a Wantlist or Inventory.

A file larger than 2 MB can be safely split into parts while keeping the header row in every part. The source CSV is used only during the import and is not shown to other users.
